The New York Times has had their reputation, and perhaps rightly so, decimated by an unfortunate common place event, irresponsibility and innacurracy. One bright point is a rousing piece of satire by N.Z. Bear, where we are taking on a trip down conspiracy theory lane. Check out the article, Pathetic Journalism Provokes Nausea and Revulsion.

As a side note, I make no bones about it, I’m quite liberal, and as people that consider themselves conservatives may be confused with my “betrayal” of the NY Times, as they are a “beacon of how the media is aligned to the far left.” But that is the problem, news sources are hear to inform us, in an unbiased manor. When any newspaper, be it the Times, Chicago Tribune, or a random Reuter’s story, it should be accurate, responsible, and fair. This doesn’t only go for newspapers, but the media in general. People already have opinions, and are perfectly capable of forming their own conclusions given enough reliable information. If a media outlet wants to publish its opinion, then they should, but in the Editorials or opinions section, do not try to pass it off as unbiased news. Liberals and Conservatives both know full well what kind of slant an article has on it. We know that the NY Times is going to have a liberal slant, we know that Fox News is going to have a conservative slant. But don’t try to pass Bill O’Rielly off as a news man, because he’s not. Don’t try to pass Al Franken off as a news man, he’s not.

And for God’s sake, don’t try to pass Micheal Moore off as an unbiased documentary maker, because that is ridiculus.

All we really want is the unbiased truth. If you can’t remove yourself from what you’re reporting enough to do that, then you are in the wrong profession, go be a politician.
