Whitehouse mum on Rove’s dealings with reporter

July 12th, 2005 · 2 Comments

Looks as though the President’s chief political adviser Karl Rove has found himself in a bit of hot water in the Valerie Plame incident, where two reports divulged Plame’s name and that she was a C.I.A. officer. MSNBC.com has an article about the Whitehouse’s change of heart, in terms of claiming Rove had nothing to do with it.

Trib sez: “The White House said that at the prosecutor’s request, it would not discuss the investigation.”

Of course that’s not conclusive, but just a possible explanation.

I would agree, however, they had no problem commenting on this previously…unfortunately the Washington Post article is no longer up, but here is an excerpt from Wikipedia.

29 September 2003: White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan on Karl Rove: “He wasn’t involved,… The president knows he wasn’t involved. … It’s simply not true.”

The link to the missing Post piece is http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A16860-2003Sep29.html.
