Alright, I’m not a big one for resolutions, but I do have a couple of goals. First, to build and sell 10 effects pedals. Clint and I are already working on the initial prototype, though it remains to be seen whether or not that prototype will be marketable.

Second, build and sell 15 sets of electric guitar pickups. With any luck I’ll have the ‘winding apparatus’ built by the end of January, then it will be time to wind some pickups. My ’side goals’ with this are to become adept at winding Strat and Tele style single coil pickups (little bar magnets, single going), P-90 style single coil (using 2 bar magnets, humbucker sized pickups), and humbucker (2 single coils ran in parallel in essence, canceling hum). I think this will prove to be simpler than building the effects, as there is a lot less that goes into it, though the electromagnetic concepts it entails are pretty deap.

Finally, to build at least one electric guitar. It will be numbered, as I intend for it to be the first of many in my future, but since workspace is limited it will be considerably less complex than ones I hope to build down the road. I plan to keep the guitar for sentimental value for the time being, and with any luck build and sell a second electric by this time next year. That would really be an accomplishment.

And those are my ‘goals’ for the new year. A little bit ambitious, but without ambition I’d never make progress on anything.
