Why we’ve not been shopping yet

June 27th, 2006 · No Comments

Kind of crazy that we’ve been able to avoid going to the grocery store since last sunday at this point. We’ve managed this primarly through 2 means. The first is great friends like Clint who cooked for us twice last week. The second is through eating out. I know what you budget conscious people are saying, eating out, what are you thinking if you’re trying to save?!?

Well my friends, you can eat out and be economical about it. As a matter of fact, depending on what specials we hit up we can spend less money in a week eating out than we would if we home cooked each meal. For example, tonight we are going out for dinner with my inlaws (which it tends to be difficult to pay for ourselves when we do that in the first place) to a great restaurant called Deleece, which on Monday’s and Tuesday’s has a $20 3-course prix fix menu. Might be more than a cheap special elsewhere, but you’ve got to enjoy something nice every once in a while, and the food is excellent and has a good selection of food. Not to mention the normal prices, we could easily spend $30-40 a person on food.

But if you were wondering why there was no post on coupon savings or grocery shopping yet this week, now you know the reason.
