So I went to the Boston Globes website today to see what they were saying about the upcoming Colts/Patriots game. I am used to blood-sucking free registration being required. I expect to be asked to provide an email address and a zip code. No big deal.

But when I went to the Globe (which my browser blocked 2 popups before succombing to the 3rd for Netflix), to do anything I had to register. Again, in basic form not very surprising. However, if you are going to require registration then asking my household income should not be required to proceed.

I’m a pretty open person, but I do value my privacy and I will just opt not to read any of your publication thank you very much. As a matter of fact I doubt that I will ever purchase a print copy of the Globe, even if vacationing in Boston. So, Boston Globe, thanks, but I’ll pass on making use of your publication while you ask me to supply my income. Sure…I could bullshit my income, and I’m sure that most people probably do, but I also realize what shitty data can cause in terms of headaches, and I’m not an asshole that just wants to screw you over.
