Do you ever feel like just dealing with some people you are getting dumber by the moment? Then you sit and wonder, is the rest of the world this stupid? Situations like that always send me down a path of questioning whether or not I try to hold humanity / the people around me to too high a standard.

If people really are dumber, as a whole, than I expect them to be, then it explains a lot. Unfortunately, it also suggests that we as an American society are headed down a really bad path. If the people I deal with on a regular basis are an accurate cross-section of our country then we are in for some real shit.

I wish the stupidity of people would explain more than it does though. I wish it explained ignorance. But ignorance and stupidity are surprisingly disparate conditions I’m afraid. For example, there are certainly some highly intelligent individuals out there that have not received a good education, never had the opportunity to learn, and as a result are ignorant. Just as there are some really stupid people out there that have knowledge and aren’t technically ignorant, just incapable of applying any of the concepts they have learned.

Personally I can’t stand stupidity or ignorance. And there may be a strong correlation…but I still maintain they are not the same. At any rate, I pray to all things Holy that my experiences are not the norm and that people are generally not as dumb as what I see regularly. Otherwise I might as well give up now, because, in the words of Donnie Darko, “What’s the point?”

Worst part….I woke up early today and was in a really good mood. I was ready to start my day, ready for anything that was going to come my way. Then about 9:30 this morning, BAM. Hit a brick wall of stupidity that I’ve not been able to find a crack in all day long. Someone please tell me that the rest of the world, or at the least, the rest of the world is not like what I’ve been experiencing.
