The Candyman Can.

First, Happy Halloween. Second, am I the only person that, generally speaking, doesn’t eat sweets? Its not that I have a particular dislike for candy or sweet things, but given the option, I’ll normally pass it up. Today, on the other hand, I’ve not been passing them up. So far I’ve had three Tootsie Rolls, a Reese’s Peanut Butter Stick (I think thats what those bars are called), and two mini-Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Generally speaking I’ll always opt for something salty if I’m looking to munch on something….hence my general love for potato chips. I’m not just talking about this because its Halloween though. My company just wrapped up our Fall Weight Loss Challenge. Participants chip in $10 towards the pool, and its winner take all. This time? $220 was at steak…mmmmm steak….. stake.

Interested in how I did? I know you are. I gained three pounds. Really, not the end of the world and I’m surprised I didn’t gain more. Historically I tend to put on a little bit of weight when the weather starts to get cooler. On the bright side I’m still under 180 lbs, which is the weight I was at the wedding two years ago. Actually, I think I was at 185 then…you can totally tell the difference in the 10 pounds between then and now in my face.

Anyway, back to the main point. Candy. It being All Hallows Eve, what is your favorite candy of all time? Personally I go back and forth between Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and 100 Grand bars. I suppose the Reese’s definitely have a bit of the savory with the peanut butter. So, tell me, if you lived on my block and were coming Trick ‘r Treating to my house, what should I have on hand?

(Oh, and here is a semi-creepy picture….well, I think its semi-creepy, especially since its not photoshopped at all…not a single adjustment to the color or anything….)

I am not a big sweets eater, either. My husband and I would both choose to have seconds at dinner rather than leave room dessert nine times out of ten. But when I do eat candy, my favorite is reese’s pieces. All the peanut butter goodness without that messy chocolate. Yum!

I’m probably a disgrace to my gender by saying this, but I like anything that is NOT chocolate. Sure, I’ll eat the occassional Twix or Snickers, but my true love lies in the fruity. Skittles, Twizzlers, Starburst.

However, if I had to choose a true vice it wouldn’t be candy. Mine is fast food french fries and cheeseburgers.

Lemonheads. I probably would have sold my own sister to get a large box of them. That was just the beginning of my love of sour candy.
