Most people listen to music everyday at work. I know its the case for you retail types, and unless you’re a sales rep, you probably listen to music at your desk most of the day. I know I do. I also know that sometimes I get a little bit bored with the music I’ve got on my iPod.
Back in college, I’d just hope on Napster or Limewire, or some other music-stealing software program and download till my hearts content. As I got a little older I grew out of that and because I could afford it, actually starting buying music. Shocker! The stuff I had downloaded back in the day, I actually have gone and paid for. Take that and shove it record companies!
Anyway, back to being bored. On the internet today there are a ton of internet music and radio sites. Some act like normal radio, with ads ect. Some of them are way cooler. My two favorites are Pandora and Slacker. They are pretty similar in the basic idea. On Pandora you put in the name of a song or artist and it generates a “station” of similar music. You can then skip over songs you don’t want to here and rate them with a thumbs up or thumbs down. Its nice.
Slacker is a similar idea, except it is more “station” based, where it gives you a “tree” style directory of stations and you can find genre or era based stations. You can still search and create a station based around an artist too. Just like Pandora, you can skip songs (to an extent, though Slacker has a pay version that allows you unlimited skips).
I’ve been using Slacker the most lately and have been hooked on 90s hits. This a bad idea. On the one hand I can’t believe I actually am sitting through songs like “Where My Girls At?” by 702 or “Believe” by Cher. So I thought you guys might find it interesting to see a list of the recent stuff I’ve listened to. Some, terrible. Some, awesome. Some, just nostalgic. Enjoy.

And yes, they came on in that order. This makes for a lot of fun with the Lyric game over IM with my friends. Let me know if you want to play, and I’ll IM you some lyrics during the day for you to guess! (And no, I didn’t not actually let all the songs play all the way through.)

Oh my word. Just seeing the title of a lot of these songs took me back to my senior year of high school/freshman year of college.
Hee!

I used to listen to Pandora. But won’t it only let you skip through so many? Like there is a limit, or something?
Anyway…I love music. Too much. Have you heard the new Juno soundtrack? It’s awesome.
