Monday Mumblings

First thought, its cold outside. I really really liked the 60 degree days we were having a week or two ago. They were nice. I want them back. Really.

Second thought, the media is oblivious and the administrations are full of shit. I’m referring particularly to Chicago Public Schools and the reports today about a student bringing a loaded gun to school. Yes, that caught this kid. This singular occurrence the safety measures in place did their job. The news report I saw a noon had the reporter say, “How a student thought he could possibly smuggle a loaded weapon into this school with metal detectors remains a mystery.” Really? The report failed to mention what percentage of the student body actually goes through the metal detector daily. Additionally, if they are like other schools in the district there are always unguarded entrances that, while not an ‘open’ entrance, can easily be opened on the inside to allow anyone and their cousin into the school, bypassing the security measures.

It just struck me as I was watching the principle of this school talk about how they set a great example today and that students just can’t possibly hope to get a weapon in the school…I wish she was right. I really really do, but the reality, it wouldn’t be hard to get a gun into one of the schools.

Third and final thought for the moment, how bad a mother do you have to be to have your kids ordered, by the court, to be turned over to Kevin Federline for full time custody. Jeez. Really?! Its usually about impossible to get the kids taken away from their mother. You must be screwed up a dozen ways to Sunday to get into this situation.
