I got through another couple of books, and boy has my pace tailed off. Of course, it is getting better. Last week I finished up Heretics of Dune for my sixth book of the year. I enjoyed it and really think that if you can get through the first Dune book, the rest are better. You could start with the second one of course, but it is very helpful to have all the back story since everything is quite intertwined.

That left me with 44 books to go. Then on Friday morning I picked up the first book in the Timothy Zahn ‘The Thrawn Trilogy,’ called Heir to the Empire. I definitely enjoyed it, and it is WAY better written than Steve Perry’s Shadows of the Empire was. To be honest I almost didn’t pick up Heir to the Empire because I was worried I’d be as disappointed in it as I was in Shadows of the Empire.

But it was good. So that made for 7 books, taking me down to 43. Now I’m on the second book of the trilogy, Dark Force Rising. Hopefully it keeps me interested.

I’ll write about the chili cookoff I was in later, but I’ve been pretty bad the last week or so about updating, so I wanted to go ahead and get this out there. Later.
